Nail Polish: My history

One common question people asked me was: how come you're suddenly so addicted to nail polish?

Actually i've been into nail polish since secondary school.
My toenails were always painted, and i was using thefaceshop polishes then.
During the holidays I would definitely paint my nails, heheh.
I guess it was something me and my sister loved about the holidays since young.

When I went on to poly, woah even better. There were no rules on no polish, so hehehe.
I'd be painting really bright colors, then laughing like shit when i saw it under my gloves in lab LOL.

Levon was the one who introduced me to China Glaze.

after hearing her raves i decided to try them. bought it from a sale on gmarket and poof.

the rest is history. :D

My maternal family aggravated my addiction when they bought me 21 bottles for my 21st birthday.

I tried dabbling in nail art, using only dotting tools. 

i started really simple.

first time attempting roses.

i'm proud of my ability to do both hands.

yes these are my own hands.

its really therapeutic to me,

and i love to challenge myself to do more complicated designs,

based on requests from my friends/family.

in fact i did a total of ten sets for CNY.

it was a fun experience. :D

ahpok has even encouraged me to go for a manicurist course,

so that i can actually freelance and charge people for it.

why waste my talent, he said.

i shall consider his suggestion, but for now i'm busy enough. :B

looking forward to more in 2014 ! :D

Food Review: NeNe Chicken

NeNe Chicken !

Available at Bedok Mall, Star Vista and *Scape.

Tried this some time ago with ahpok, cause he thought the name sounded cute. :D

We ordered at the counter and were given this timer to collect the food later!

i noticed alot of places are now doing this.

Personal Protective Equipment for the job.

I was actually wondering why they would go the extra mile to provide a glove and mini skewers.

Until i saw this.

Classic set- Freaking Hot and Tenders set - Snowing Cheese.

Each set comes with a drink and pickled radish.

Still dont see why gloves are needed?

Cause each piece is drenched in super spicy sauce, thats why !

Can you imagine the mess it could have been? :OOO

not to mention the stinging sensation on the skin.

freaking hot was really super !@#$%^* hot.

just look at ahpok's face. HAHAHA.

on the other hand, i love the snowing cheese ! 

cheese is forever my pick if its on the menu.

unless its something weird like cheese and durian. walao i will faint. ._.

covered in cheese powder. me likey.

cajun fries ! v similar to popeyes, but more crispy. 

and sadly, abit too oily. ):

ahpok is v satisfied that he managed to finish the whole set.

i'm very impressed to, cause it was too spicy in my opinion !

and that's saying something, since i love my chilli.

Overall, I wouldnt go back to NeNe Chicken because:

the food was not served hot, despite the fact that we were one of the few customers there.

the tenders which i had was kinda hard to chew. lol makes the name ironic.

towards the end i gave up trying to bite it into two and shoved the whole pc into my mouth.

guess it helps to have a big mouth sometimes :B

and i found something better ! 

WingStop at Bedok Mall. wahhhhh that one is really worth the visit.

An Awesome Saturday

Celebration for clique 's March babies ytd!

Met the girls first, after yet another brain draining lab session. Seriously sometimes I feel so stoned after facing the pipettes.

But I love working with my best lab partner @xinovel . We're just efficient tgt :D

Ma bitches. Hahahahah it happened to be international women's day ytd!

Then we had a selfie competition! While waiting for our VIP Cliff to arrive.

Unfortunately, compared to timbre, switch's isn't as nice.

Loads of cheese and egg. Love.

Had timbre chicken wings too, but no photo cause I was busy with le pizza. Heh

Enjoyed the live band, GroundZero!

The female singer has such a mellow and powerful voice, 

while the male singer was damn passionate. 

Hahaha you could tell he loved performing onstage, kept dancing and shimmying as he sang.

Also, the pianist was cute. Got dimple one hahaha. 

I wasn't the only one who thought so, apparently some one in the crowd had the hots for him, and kept spamming the dedication system with love notes. #lastwarning HAHA.

Sang along to songs we knew, and basically was damn hyper. Like Ahsok said, we could form our own band LOL. AND she'd be lead singer, her voice is power. :D

Rainbow Honey - Sweet Talk

Today, I have Rainbow Honey - Sweet Talk on my nails!
Sweet Talk is part of their Valentine's collection. :D

Got it from my favourite nail polish supplier, meimeisignatures :D

This is a white crelly, with raspberry, mint and purple hexes in different sizes.

I love the unique color combo, it's not something I usually go for but I unexpectedly liked it! Reminds me of a speckled raspberry ripple ice-cream. 

wtf nail polish also talk about food. #glutton 

Formula was good cause I got a good amount of glitter in each coat. Slightly on the thick side but manageable. I used three coats for opacity.

Sweet Talk is sweet.

I also like Rainbow Honey's packaging! The bottle is the longer kind and nicer to grip, especially when i'm painting my right hand. Can you believe i actually bought Rainbow Honey partially cause of the packaging? :B

Dug out my old albums and found this photo.

This was my first birthday.

One of my most cherished photos.

It was the last time I was overseas with ahgong.

Glad I took the jump and asked for special permission from my supervisor and lecturer to go; 
I was having my internship during then.

Ahgong before he was sick.

Always smiling, with his hands behind his back, and with a Marlboro between his fingers.

During mid-autumn festival. Ahgong so cute, he said this is his hat.

Behind the scenes. Hahahaha he was trying to make ahma laugh, 
and ahma was like, siao la you, ngong ngong! (Another word for goondu) :)

I randomly did this action and ahgong copy cat me. :)

Ahgong was just nice at NCC for his radiotherapy during my lunch break, so naturally I had to visit him!

He saw my name tag and took it from me. Stared at it for a moment, then happily clipped it on. :)

Three years have passed, and it still doesn't feel the same without ahgong.

I've stopped crying every night, but now and then I think of memories and I can't help but tear. Especially when I see patients who share similarities with him, like the striped shirt he loves, the same hair style..

I wish I could show him what I've achieved, wished I could have at least showed him my diploma gown. But it was all too late.

Even till now I still wonder, if things would have been different if I had been at home to take care of him.

It was only one night which I had been away..

真的不甘心。

I seek solace in knowing that he didn't suffer a lot when he passed. It was peaceful, without much struggle.

But I still miss him a lot.

And there's no known cure for this hole in my heart.

Review: BornPrettyStore Nail Foil & Stickers :D

Today, I have items from BornPrettyStore.com for review :D

All items were sent to me for my honest opinions. :)

Holographic nail foil (#4) & 3D Nail stickers. :D

For my base I used #Essence Pro White Nail Base. 
It's currently my favourite cause it protects against staining.

Bling bling holo! #ilovesparkly 

This is the matte side of the foil, which should be applied to the nail.

My application method:
1. I cut out a portion of the foil, slightly bigger than my nail.
2. Apply polish, then wait around 30 seconds to 1 minute for polish to become semi-dry.
3. Use a tapping motion to adhere the foil to the nail. A little pressure should be applied, but be careful not to smear or shift the polish.

I had tried to smoothen and press the entire piece to my nail, but it didn't adhere nicely and I got patchy areas, so I find the tapping method better.

If your polish dries before you've finished tapping the entire nail, no worries! Just dab the bare area with abit of base coat and wait awhile before tapping.

Also, DO NOT APPLY SECHE VITE as a finish. That was a fatal mistake because once I did, the entire holographic foil melted and became just silver foil. 

Unfortunately this means that chipping is unavoidable. My foil nail lasted only a day.

I don't have other brands of top coats, so I'm unable to tell if it's the same, 
but some nail bloggers have advised against adding top coats too. 
If you know of those top coats which work, please let me know! :)

Close up of the silver nail stickers !

These are extremely sticky, which is both good and bad, cause
a. It's long lasting and won't come off easily
b. You can't make mistakes during application. Trying to lift it off the nail is impossible. :/

I would advise you to plan ahead on placement. The stickers come on a transparent plastic sheet so make use of that to estimate arrangement. :)

For trimming of the stickers to fit the nail, my tip is to use regular nail clippers for a more natural curve :D

Taaadaa. The final product .

I used #Orly Jealous, Much? as base for pointer and pinky, and #OPI Havent the Foggiest for middle and ring finger.

The border for the stickers were slightly visible in person, so I went over the border with the base coat, using fine brushes.

In my opinion, I still prefer freehanding my patterns, because it's quite time consuming to use the stickers.

I love the foil though! Though the initial melting was quite saddening, it was easy to redo and the sparkly was worth it. :D
