Breakfast at Capital Café!
Capital Café 華星冰室
Shop B1, Kwong Sang Hong Building,
6 Heard Street 克街
Opening hours:
7 am to 11 pm Daily
Nearest MTR: Chai Wan 柴湾
Exit A4, Walk against traffic at Hennessy Rd 軒尼詩道, then Turn right to Heard St 克街
Good morning!
Capital Cafe is decorated with an old school music bar style, with many records hanging on the walls.
Their seats are all decorated with Levi's Jeans!
Translation: Seats for 4. For 2 pax, please keep to one side of the booth during peak hours.
Sharing tables is a common practice in the busy cafes, so dont be surprised.
You know what else is unique?
Their incredible customer service.
Its a known fact that HK dining and good customer service are rarely found together.
I'm not kidding when I say their good service started from the entrance.
Their staff noticed that we weren't local and immediately gave us the English menu. (Y)
They made the effort to speak to us and take orders in English too.
Toasted French Bun 奶油豬仔包 - HKD$14
Super crispy and well buttered bun, with condensed milk poured liberally over.
Sounds simple, but it's OH SO GOOD.
Salty and sweet balanced just right, with the crispy and fluffy bun.
Drooling now, wtf.
Principal Toast 校長多士 - HKD$25
Black Truffle and cheese, sprinkled on buttered bread.
Need I even say more? OM NOM NOM.
I'll tell you all the story of the toast instead.
This is named after HK singer Alan Tam, nicknamed by his fans as Principal Tam 譚校長.
Whenever asked for his age, he would always reply 25 as well.
Capital Cafe had created this to honour him, and promised never to increase the price.
Scrambled Egg with Black Truffle 黑松露炒蛋 - HKD$40
Glad to report that the scrambled eggs are fluffier than Aust. Dairy Co. :x
More pricey too, but that's due to the black truffle.
If you're looking for the truffle taste, I'd pick Principal Toast instead of this.
Iced Milk Tea 奶茶 (冷)- HKD$21
No need to add sugar for cold drinks.
This is just nice, not too sweet. Slurps.
In case you're wondering, Levi's Toast is similar to Principal Toast, but with tomato and cheese.
Proceeded to Causeway Bay for retail therapy!
Raided the Forever 21 store.
See Levon kena caught in action.
Quite horrified to see this happen right before my eyes: Kid on a freaking leash.
And no joke, he was dragging himself around the store and his mom didn't give a shit.
In fact she walked around with him like that.
Honestly we were still not hungry, but we figured there would always be space for dim sum..
Kuen Fat Restaurant 權發海鮮酒家
422 Lockhart Road 駱克道
Opening hours:
7.30 am to 3.30 am Daily
Nearest MTR: Causeway Bay
Exit C, Walk straight down Lockhart Road 駱克道
This was recommended by Levon's friend.
Eh dont be intimidated by the grandeur of the place.
It seems like a seafood restaurant (because it is during the night), but just proceed up to level 2.
Ordering was challenging as there was more than one menu available.
There are different menus on the table, and you have to find the correct menu for the correct timing.
Completely no English too.
We chose Siew mai, Har gao, Egg custard bun, and Radish cake.
Hehe this time we learnt our lesson, and really stuck to the maximum 5 rule ;p.
Pan-fried Radish Cake 蘿蔔糕
Noms, seared on the outside and still fluffy inside.
Golden Egg Custard Bun 黃金流沙包
Molten salted egg custard flowing from a fluffy bun.
Think of it as the dim sum/savoury version of chocolate lava cake.
The custard is not too sweet and has the right consistency. Slurp-noms.
Siew Mai 燒賣
Juicy pork and shrimp wrapped in wonton skin, and steamed.
Not very outstanding compared to the radish cake and golden custard bun, but still good.
I realised I forgot to take photos of the Har Gao 蝦餃 !
Plump, juicy shrimp wrapped in a thin piece of translucent dumpling skin.
If Levon was fighting with me for the plate, its gotta be good.
And while we were eating, Levon actually noticed that the items on my plate matched those on my nails!
HAHAHA we didn't plan this, I swear.
Retail Therapy continues at Tsim Sha Shui 尖沙咀!
Visted Uniqlo at Harbour City Mall 海港城店, which was super cheap!
Eh sadly most of the clothes are winter wear, but we did still get some buys.
Caught a beautiful sunset at the harbour!
Be it a sunrise or sunset, the diffusion of the orange glow into the blue sky is always a wonder.
Dinner at Sun Kee Cheese Noodles!
I've been looking forward to this!
Sun Kee Cheese
Noodles 新记芝士捞面
16-20 Kimberley Rd 金巴利道
G/F 13-14 Champagne Court Building
Opening hours:
12 pm to 1 am Daily
Nearest MTR: Tsim Sha Shui 尖沙咀
Exit B1, Walk straight along Nathan Road and turn right
into Granville Road 加连威老道
Turn left into Carnarvon Road 加拿分道, and walk up the slope.
The store is deeper inside the building, not visible from street view.
Menu!
All in Traditional Chinese.
What you want to order is this:
Cheese Noodles with Pork Cheeks 豬頰肉芝士撈公仔面 - HKD$44
Well marinated chewy pork slices, with springy noodles and drenched with creamy cheese sauce.
OMG SO DAMN NICE!!
You'd expect the cheese sauce to be very thick and jelat after awhile, but no, it wont.
Parmesan cheese is used, and the sauce is still relatively light.
The noodles are springy, not exactly like your usual maggi mee.
This Levon happily snapping at my glutton mode.
Uh and this is glutton mode.
I'm definitely coming back to SK each time I go to HK!
Langham Place at Mongkok 旺角 for more shopping !
For tourists, go to Level 4 Customer Service Center to redeem welcome
gift and LP card.
There's H&M (AGAIN) on Level 1, Uniqlo at Level 5, and Rosebullet and Chocoolate at Level 6.
Also had a try of the famous 許留山
They have many desserts available, and their signature are the ones with mango.
What I had was Mango Pudding, Mango chunks, Pomelo and Sago in one drink, for HKD$25. :D
Woah Day Three already! :O
