Review: Bornprettystore Nail Pens x Monochrome Garden

Feeling moodswingy and bored, so to release some frustration I painted my nails.

I used essence color & go; 144 black is back.
It applied smoothly and was opaque in two coats, but there were slight bubbles when it dried.
Drying time is relatively fast, around 1 minute.

just trimmed my nails into nubs.
every month when i'm on phlebo duty it tends to chip due to the continuous glove use.

Bought this nail art pen (#1) some time ago from BornPrettyStore
Direct link to product here
Simply shake the pen well before using.
For first time use, you'll have to press the nib down against paper to 'activate' the flow.

I'll recommend to store in an upright position, with tip facing down.
Previously when I stored it tip facing up, the ink/polish flowed backwards.
And it turned out watery and translucent.
I had to shake it super vigorously to make it come out again.

Monochrome.
usually i'm all about brights but today this somehow suited my feelings.
although i felt slightly happier for awhile after seeing the rose and thorns.

Verdict on the pen?
It is very good to use on fine lines, and when stored properly, the ink/polish flows very well.
The only downside is that it is not fast drying as it claims.
I ended up smudging the rose when I put on my topcoat.. after 5 minutes.
Mind you, everything I drew was one layer only, so it should have dried faster.

Nevertheless I think this is an extremely useful tool for nail art, especially for the fine details.
It is almost impossible to do such thin lines TWICE
which is what would happen for using normal white polish.
White is never opaque in the first layer.

Review: BornPrettyStore Nail Foil & Stickers :D

Today, I have items from BornPrettyStore.com for review :D

All items were sent to me for my honest opinions. :)

Holographic nail foil (#4) & 3D Nail stickers. :D

For my base I used #Essence Pro White Nail Base.
It's currently my favourite cause it protects against staining.

Bling bling holo! #ilovesparkly

This is the matte side of the foil, which should be applied to the nail.

My application method:
1. I cut out a portion of the foil, slightly bigger than my nail.
2. Apply polish, then wait around 30 seconds to 1 minute for polish to become semi-dry.
3. Use a tapping motion to adhere the foil to the nail. A little pressure should be applied, but be careful not to smear or shift the polish.

I had tried to smoothen and press the entire piece to my nail, but it didn't adhere nicely and I got patchy areas, so I find the tapping method better.

If your polish dries before you've finished tapping the entire nail, no worries! Just dab the bare area with abit of base coat and wait awhile before tapping.

Also, DO NOT APPLY SECHE VITE as a finish. That was a fatal mistake because once I did, the entire holographic foil melted and became just silver foil.

Unfortunately this means that chipping is unavoidable. My foil nail lasted only a day.

I don't have other brands of top coats, so I'm unable to tell if it's the same,

but some nail bloggers have advised against adding top coats too.
If you know of those top coats which work, please let me know! :)

Close up of the silver nail stickers !

These are extremely sticky, which is both good and bad, cause
a. It's long lasting and won't come off easily
b. You can't make mistakes during application. Trying to lift it off the nail is impossible. :/

I would advise you to plan ahead on placement. The stickers come on a transparent plastic sheet so make use of that to estimate arrangement. :)

For trimming of the stickers to fit the nail, my tip is to use regular nail clippers for a more natural curve :D

Taaadaa. The final product .

I used #Orly Jealous, Much? as base for pointer and pinky, and #OPI Havent the Foggiest for middle and ring finger.

The border for the stickers were slightly visible in person, so I went over the border with the base coat, using fine brushes.

In my opinion, I still prefer freehanding my patterns, because it's quite time consuming to use the stickers.

I love the foil though! Though the initial melting was quite saddening, it was easy to redo and the sparkly was worth it. :D

Another #manicure I did with the holographic foil.

This features #SayuriNailLacquer Lolita, over #OPI I vant to be a lone star. This was to celebrate Sayuri's first anniversary. I love their awesome glitter combos. :D

In fact, cause it's their first birthday, meimeisignatures is having sales for all of Sayuri's polishes, at $14 per bottle.

Product Review for BornPrettyStore : Nail Art Brushes and Pen

Products were bought by myself (:

Finally received my order from BornPrettyStore !
Three weeks for normal shipping, which is quite reasonable :D
The items were packed in bubble wrap and arrived safely too.

Teehee this is my set of 12 brushes in size 0, for painting fine detail. It's better than I expected cause each brush has its individual protective cap. 😍

Nail Art Pen in white! They have other colors too.

It's quite a pain to draw nail art in white polish, cause unlike other colors, white tends to require layers, and for some reason, dries faster. It's quite annoying cause Ive been throwing away bottles of white polish cause it's chunky from nail art use. -.-

so I've decided to just get a pen. Quite like the fine tip heheh. No more layering! ✌

Remember to utilize my discount code JNJX31 for 10% off your total purchase! Free international normal shipping as usual :D

BornPrettyStore.com

Applied to take part in a blogger program from www.bornprettystore.com and they accepted my application! :D

Born Pretty Store sells A LOT of beauty products; studs and decals for nails, UV lamps for gelish, makeup brushes, etc. There are other items too, which makes it kinda similar to gmarket.

All prices are in USD, so even after conversion, it's still worth it.

The best part isn't just the wide range and variety, it's the free worldwide shipping! And if you'd prefer registered mail, just top up USD$3. It's that cheap :D

Needless to say, this section is my favourite. Nail art!!!

Awesome variety of nail art tools, especially the brushes. A good nail brush is always important to me cause I love doing hand drawn details, so finding this was like striking gold.

In fact, I just ordered a set of 12 fine detail brushes yesterday. Hehehe.

Other than selling really affordable items, Born Pretty Store also has periodic sales going on.

Right now till 25th Jan, they've selected 24 sets of water decals for nails and each is only for USD $0.88! Fyi, water decals are the same as the temporary tattoos we used to apply as kids, so it's pretty easy to use. I'd say its good for nail art beginners who want to add an extra bling to their manicure. :D

Link to the sale here !

On top of it all, Born Pretty Store has kindly given a 10% discount code for use! Key in JNJX31 at checkout, but please note that its not applicable for items already on sale. :)

I'll update more on my products when I've received them, so you guys can know the estimated waiting time for delivery!
