Food Review: BINGKI

BINGKI
Blk 7 Tanjong Pagar Plaza #01-106
Singapore 081007

Opening hours:
Sunday - Thursday 11 am to 2 am
Friday and Saturday 11 am to 4 am

BINGKI !
I was initially skeptical about the whole bingsu craze, because it just seemed like overrated ice kachang.
More so after I tried places like O'ma spoon, and Nunsongyee - which was the worst, in my opinion.
All of them tasted like I expected - shaved ice with toppings on top.
That being said, at least O'ma Spoon's shaved ice had a slight hint of milky flavour,
unlike NSY, which you needed to pour the milk yourself, and so ended up unevenly distributed.

On a random whim after our Tori King Ramen Keisuke, we decided to give BINGKI a try.
This Bimb was already on a bingsu spree,
cause she was eating at 313's Ice Lab only the day AND 2 days before! hahahah.

Menu!

Ordered 2 types to try - Mango and Watermelon - $15 each
Bimb was actually hesitant to order the mango in case it was sour,
so she dee siao the korean waiter and asked him if the mango was sweet or not.
Poor guy obviously didn't understand such chim sentences, HAHAH so he was like ????

His colleague had to step in to save him LOLOL.

And later on when he delivered the bingsu to our table, he commented "Mango sweet, very sweet!"
BWAHAHAHA no it turned out sour #laughdieme

Bimb: "Is this supposed to be Pooh Bear?"
HAHAHAH I hope not omg #差太远了

Looks more like Boss instead.

Watermelon is my favourite!

Both flavours had super fine shavings of milky ice, which was not too sweet and cloying.
I've never had bingsu in Korea, but this is definitely another level from what I've tried so far.
And I love how the fruits are fresh and juicy!
Well, the sour mango wasn't actually that bad, just not totally ripey sweet if you get what I mean :B

Yay first bingsu try with #bimbgluttonboss #pluspok !

Second time was with Manlin, and we ordered the Green Tea - $15
Same with the previous time; fine shavings of light green tea milk ice.
No improvement with the art deco hahahaha.

Third time - after dinner with these crazies!
Friday nights are super crowded and this time we had to queue around 20 min.

LOL at that time Pokemon Go was still quite popular,
so me pok and bowei actually went roaming to catch a Jynx and Onix HAHAH.

Make a I'm-seriously-writing-for-bingsu face !
Omg bowei HAHAH.

Resting bitch face on hahahahah
Bimb's like YOU WANNA FIGHT?!

Janchi Bingsu - $22
Mountain of shaved milky ice, topped with almonds, blueberries, grapes, mango, rockmelon and watermelon.
This was ginormous!
Enough for 7 of us to share comfortably so it was pretty value for money :D
And it's Instagram worthy too hahahaha.

Definitely would recommend this for larger groups.

As a gauge this bowl can fit my #buddingyeast's face, so yup it's big *bwahahah ;p*

BINGKI is definitely my to-go place for bingsu!

However, I've also come across some recent reviews on their fb,
who are complaining about the service and quality of the food.

Hopefully BINGKI will be able resolve their issues,
because they definitely have the potential to go far in Singapore's competitive cafe industry.

Let's Picnic! Blonde's 23rd Celebration

Princess Blonde wants a picnic, so a picnic she will get.
Marina Barrage is the best place!

My perpetrators :B

Selfies while waiting for the birthday girl to arrive!
We got Bowei to trick Jh into thinking there's a dog event at Barrage and she could play with them. Bwahaha.

Paint me like one of your fat French models.

Our feast!
Tiny sandwiches, Potato salad, Cold noodles, Creamy Tom Yum Pasta, and om nom nom chips.

Chips are not only yummy, but functional. HAHAHA.

While waiting, we heard shrieks and screams from other groups hanging out near the other end.
Turns out there was automated sprinklers coming on and spraying around.
We thought we v smart and heng to have picked the correct area, cause we don't see any sprinklers around us.

After we finished the sentence a sprinkler promptly emerged from the ground and started its party.
Damn I had to throw myself over the food as a human shield HAHAH.
Really no time to even grab anything out of the way without getting sprayed, because it went in a circle.

Thank goodness we had time to rearrange everything before birthday girl came.

Should have captured her face of disappointment when she saw the place devoid of dogs. Bwahaha.
Still got us bitches though. :B

Cake got horrendously melted under the sun!

Group photo!
With Vivian who came laterrr.

Siao one siao one.

We even bought a kite at a whim - cause we haven't flown one in so long!
It was really heartwarming to have other people try to help and guide us when they saw us struggling.
Singapore still has that kampong spirit afterall - and I hope it never dies. (:

Had to leave at 7 pm cause I was actually on night shift LOLOL.
Crazy tired but it was worth it.

Some people deserve the effort.

Hong Kong Travelogue 2016 - #ZouSanKitties: Day One

Yes I went back to HK again !
This time with my favourite cats, whom I've had more than a decade of friendship with.

HAHAH technically one of them is my own younger sister,
but I'm grateful because we didn't actually use to be close. #teenagerproblems :x

Anyway, its funny how I keep going back to HK, when usually people fly to BKK for multiple trips.
I miss Bangkok lor!
It holds so many memories for me, being the first trip with my family that me and jh organised,
and another first trip with taupok after 6 years together.
Unfortunately it's not very safe for travel now. :/

Flew there via Jetstar - needed to utilise jh's travel voucher from a previous flight cancelation.
Mehhh no SIA ):

Got to my favourite area for accommodation, Kowloon, via the Airport bus!
For detailed directions please refer to my post last year, cause nothing has changed.

I love Kowloon area because there are shops which open till late, compared to HK Island.
Specifically, Mongkok area is the best, being an MTR interchange station, so its pretty easy to travel.
And also cause got cold noodles OM NOM NOM.

However, their hotels are generally smaller.
Do not expect super spacious rooms in HK for a low price!
Seriously what you pay is what you get.
Agoda is my to-go website for hotel bookings, because they state the dimensions of the room hahaha.

This time, we stayed at M1 Hotel, Yau Ma Tei.
Super convenient - 2 min walk from Yau Ma Tei MTR Exit C

M1 Hotel
28 Portland Street
28 砵蘭街

The room is reasonably sized as well, with a queen sized bed and a single day bed set up near the vanity mirror area.
If not for the day bed, I think the room would have been very spacious for two guests.
The best thing is, there are sofa seats at the window area, which we used as luggage parking space.
Shiok la, more floor space to walk around hahah.

Toilet was big and very clean too.
A must when you're traveling with jh or bimb, hahahaha.
So long as the toilets pass their inspection you know its a good hotel LOLOLOL.

Bought our SIM cards at Apliu Street Flea Market - Sham Shui Po Exit C2
I couldn't find the exact shop that Levon recommended,
but no worries because they have loads of carts selling different plans.
Just compare a few and decide on which is most suitable.

First stop, Tim Ho Wan!
Both these two cats haven't been to the original THW in HK, so its a definitely must go.
Brought them to the original store at Fuk Wing St., the same one I went with Levon.

BTW there are a lot of repeats on this trip, so I'll just link back to the first visit's :B

Jh was mindblown by the awesomeness that was the Crispy Char Siew Bun 酥皮叉燒包.

Me and Sai were like, om nom nom everything LOL.
#truegluttons vs #connoisseurmouth

Case in point.

My favourite is still the Steamed Egg Cake!
So soft and fluffy and fragrant with the brown sugar scent.

Happy cats.

Mongkok shopping to burn them calories! :D
Shiok la I bought super cheap sheet masks from Innisfree to try them out at the hotel at night.
That's why I love Korea, Taiwan and HK, heheh.

Ironically we also bought our 百味 cold noodles as a snack.
But omg so angry because this super rude aunty messed up my order.
Tell her 5 ingredients she gave me only 3, and still dare to say she has alr put it in wtf.

Yes I know HK service is not friendly but this is the worst shit I've gotten.
T.T my taughey..

Next stop, dinner. Back at Four Seasons Claypot!
As usual there's a long queue for this so we got busy taking ootds and selfies :B

When you go out with a graphic designer you get chio photos like this.

Four Seasons Claypot Restaurant 四季煲仔飯
46 Arthur Street 鴉打街
Yau Ma Tei MTR 油麻地 Exit C, walk straight and turn left into alley.

Opening Hours:
5.30 am – 12 mn Daily

And your ootd shots turn out like this.
Pearlyn: "好有黃靖惠的feel哦!"

Which means more blue, less orange, contrast, and NO CROPPING WHY YOU CROP.
so fierce.

I've been missing this! Oyster omelette - it's unlike any you've eaten before in Sg.
Super crispy, slurps.

Ordered two bowls - Salted fish and Chicken + Lup Cheong and Sliced Pork.
Don't think Jh was too impressed by this, but I'll still come back for the omelette. :B

And yes we went Yee Shun Milk Company 義順牛奶公司 for the steamed milk 馳名雙皮燉奶, cause it's just around the corner!
Why not, since all meals require dessert to round it off ma. :B

I likey milk puddinggggs.

Christmas Feast!

Since goodness knows when, Jh has been bugging us to organize a Christmas dinner so that she can prepare a feast.
This year my family is up on Genting so we decided to have one at my home!

Bitchstand with a black pok sneaking up behind wahahaha.
Party hats are mandatory at this dinner!

My mum wanted to join in the fun heheheh.

Mum is a workaholic, refuse to take leave cause her boss needs her. ._.

My lopsided vs one-eared reindeer :B

Santa Von and Pok the Rudolph

Budding yeast!

They play cheat and shared the horns hahahah.

People from Simei tend to photobomb sia, no matter they know it or not HAHAH.

Group photo!

Her horns are wayyyy bigger than mine.. Ahbu?!

Seriously you can't expect me not to have a christmas pusheen and penguins.

Dinner by Chef Jonelle Ramsay :p
Seriously, it was sooooo good.
We had vongole, creamy tom yam pasta (by me), baked potatoes, and a roasted chicken!
Let's zoom in to the succulent, juicy, flavourful fowl.
Love her seasonings!

After ingesting all the fats we had to Dance Central some of it away.
HAHAHAH super entertaining, especially when Bowei and pok are dancing.

Yay gift exchange!

Levon is the VIP, so she got free present. Next year no exception liao ;p
Made her tear apart layers and layers of newspaper to get to her Gudetama hahahah.

Bimb's secret santa turned out to be Pok!
My bf knows my bff well enough to know she wants a practical Hello Kitty gift :D

Pok's secret santa was Ahsai - she got him a shirt in a color he doesn't have. He looked good wearing it :D
Oh and my present to him was a limited edition Star Wars Stormtrooper Ez-link card.
#practicalityFTW

The two lovebirds got each other for their secret santa, and omg they got similar tumblers from Starbucks HAHAHA.

So yay my secret santa was Bimb, and omgggg she got me a Sephora Christmas gift set!
Damn cute, you can spin the wheel and decide which color to use :3

Then as a bff bonus I got this MAD CUTE pompompurin cup :DDD
DRINK WATER EVERYDAY.

I was ahsai's secret santa,
and wahahahah freaking funny, I sorta tricked her (and jh) into picking her own present!

Bought TTR's cityscape rings and I wasn't sure which city was sai's favourite, cause Korea is not there.
So I basically got both of them to do personality tests by picking their fav cities HAHAHAHA.
I have a gift for jiaowhey sometimes.

Bimb looking so happy with her bling bling ribbon, I should have just gotten her that.

Levon made this for me! Along with om nom nom chocolates.

Had to report for work on Christmas Day, zomg. #lifeofamedtech
Brought my reindeer ears along to make myself feel better HAHAH.
